What I’m Building

This page documents current projects and operating initiatives James R. Ward is actively building, improving or testing.

WHAT I'M BUILDING

The current work, not the polished retrospective.

A living view of the systems, companies and capabilities being built now—plus the business problems they are intended to solve.

THE PATTERN

Build leverage across the operating system.

Most of the current work falls into four connected layers: product capability, distribution, demand generation, and business infrastructure.

The goal is not to accumulate unrelated ventures. It is to improve control over how products are created, marketed, sold, delivered and supported.

BUILD NOTES

Questions worth documenting as the work evolves.

What are we trying to control?

Demand, fulfillment, infrastructure, data, customer experience or a critical dependency?

What becomes reusable?

A good system should compound across companies instead of solving the same problem repeatedly.

What does the customer gain?

Internal leverage only matters when it also improves speed, clarity, reliability or value.

What did reality teach us?

Every build should create either revenue, capability or information that improves the next decision.
